7-12 Principal

Dear Community of Alexandria Central School District:

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the Secondary Principal of Alexandria Central School District.

As a North Country native and Alexandria Central School graduate, I am honored to now serve the very community that inspired me to pursue my passions and my career in education.

My wife Marcy, a Computer Technology teacher at Indian River Central School District, and I raise our two boisterous boys, Clark, five years old, and Charlie, two years old within the peace of our local country home. We enjoy being outdoors together, playing sports, and relaxing on the River with friends and family.

For the last eleven years, I have been employed as an enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly effective Art teacher. I began my career in the close-knit community of Old Forge at the Town of Webb Union Free School District. I worked tirelessly to build a rigorous and prestigious Art program teaching all K-12 classes. Working with students at each level I focused on instilling an appreciation for the culture and creativity around us. I inspired a love of learning in young children and prepared my secondary students for a successful future. Early in my teaching career, I knew that pursuing an administrative role would be most gratifying for me. In 2015, I completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at St. Lawrence University. During that year I also served as the K-12 School Building Level Administrative Intern and as the Chair of both our Technology and Teaching is the Core Grant Committees at Town of Webb UFSD.

In August of 2015, I accepted a teaching position at Indian River Middle School and shortly thereafter became our District’s Art Coordinator. This appointment allowed me to rewardingly share the best of both my K-12 teaching experiences as well as utilize my aptitudes in Building Level Leadership to help further serve the district. I enjoyed working closely with Art teachers in eight buildings as well as our District Office team to ensure opportunity and achievement for over 3,300 students district-wide. This spectrum of experience working with vastly different communities, teachers, staff, and students, has provided me with an invaluable perspective of both large and small school operations.

With enthusiasm and pride, I accept the Secondary Principal’s position and return to my alma mater. This role will provide a wide scope of leadership responsibilities, present challenges, and afford opportunities that I am eager to embrace while collaborating with the exceptional leadership of Mr. Clapper and Mrs. Morgia.

Thank you to all those that have reached out to express their congratulations, confidence, support, and excitement for my family and me in this new chapter. I am grateful for the warm welcome and truly look forward to the opportunity to serve the community, faculty, staff, students, and parents of the Alexandria Central School District for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Robert Fountain
