Absentee ballots are available for the Alexandria Central School District vote beginning April 1, 2025. A District voter must request an application for an absentee ballot in advance of the vote date. The voter must complete the application and state the reason they will not be able to appear in person on the day of the District election/vote for which the absentee ballot is requested. A qualified voter in the district may use an absentee ballot if, on voting day, they are a patient in a hospital or unable to appear personally because of illness or physical disability; is required to be outside the country because of duties, occupation or studies; is on vacation outside the country; or is detained in jail awaiting conviction of an offense other than a felony. The application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election/vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election/vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.
If the absentee ballot application form does not provide a reason that you are entitled to an absentee ballot, the application will be processed as an application for an early mail ballot and you will be sent an early mail ballot if otherwise eligible.
Upon receipt and approval of the application, a ballot will be mailed. The completed ballot must be received by the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on May 20, 2025 the day of the vote. A qualified voter may vote as an early mail voter. Each person entitled to vote as an early mail voter and wanting to obtain an early mail ballot must make written application to the district clerk. To qualify as a voter, a person must be:
- a citizen of the United States
- at least 18 years old
- a resident of Alexandria Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the vote.(Education Law § 2012)
Bold Election Management System has provided tablet-style electronic poll books for use at the polls on May 20, 2025. Voters may visit any table to sign in with a poll worker. Voters will provide their full name to the poll worker who will locate it on the iPad and flip the screen to the voter for a signature. A stylus will be available to use for signature. Your completed ballot will then be scanned via machines lease to ACS by the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

Available
The Alexandria Central School District will hold its Annual Budget Vote and Board of
Education election on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 .
There are two seats available. The seats currently held by Eric Heath and Suzanne Hunter are three-year terms commencing July 1, 2025 and expiring June 30, 2028.
Nominating petitions to fill these vacancies may be picked up in the District Office at 34 Bolton Avenue, Alexandria Bay, NY, Monday –Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning March 3, 2025. All nominating petitions must be filed with the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025. All nominating petitions must contain a minimum of 25 signatures of qualified voters of the Alexandria Central School District.
